Why Do You Do It?
BECAUSE WE ENJOY DOING IT!!!
and
we get to meet lots of like-minded people
it helps to keep us fit
(well, almost fit!)
it keeps an old tradition alive
people enjoy watching it
(ok, not everyone, but most)
we make money for our chosen, local charity
(thousands of pounds donated in the past few years)
we get away for lots of weekends
(camping or in B&B)
we go to lots of new places
(local and not so local)
we get an opportunity to sing
(not compulsory)
we can join in with lots of other musicians
(preferably in the same key)
new, inexperienced musicians are welcome
(and even encouraged and helped)
men, women, boys and girls are all welcome
(but, because we dance at pubs, there is a lower age limit)
our partners and children are made welcome too
(even if they don't actually join)
we get to dress up in silly clothes
(this bit IS compulsory)
we can get involved in a terrific, varied social scene
including
country walks
parties
evenings out
and
barbecues
and not forgetting
